Senior Citizens Circle !

Greetings to one & all !

This Blog post is very special to me.  Since it has the Title the Senior Citizens Circle. According to Google age of Senior Citizens is 60-80 Years. The Google Definition is "An individual resident is considered as Senior Citizen between the age group of 60 to 80 years, as on the last day of the previous financial year. Who is Very Senior Citizen? A Very Senior Citizen is an individual resident who is above 80 years, as on the last day of the previous financial year."

But If you ask me whose a Senior Citizen, the answer to this  question is that individual who  is ready to share his experiences of Life with the younger generation, someone who has gone through hardships & achieved great heights & most important someone who was sometime back a young teenager like me. For me Senior Citizens are very special. I learn from them each day & everyday. I have a group of Senior Citizens  which I meet on Sundays in my Gurudwara, whom these days I'm missing due to the Lockdown situation. Whenever I extend my hand to help them walk or bring the Holy Langar for them they always have a lovely blessing to give me which makes my day!

This feeling of Love, affection & care is missing in the generation of today. When I sit with my age group of teens over a coffee in a Cafe I often hear statements like So, What's the next plan to achieve? , Where are you planning your vacations, In India or Abroad? , Which University are you planning to take your Admissions ?.Most of the chats that I have with them is materialistic, future based etc. None of them focus on making a Life of Excellence, A life of  purpose. But when I chat with the older age groups I learn so many newer things, their experiences in letting go off things helps in tough times.

Lets now quickly see some beautiful 'SENIOR CITIZEN' Pictures who have impacted my Life largely.

1) Mr. Yogendra Thakore & Mrs.Saryu Thakore:

These two individuals were God's messenger to everyone they met. They had a soft corner for each & every individual they met. I learnt from them  to ask for good health & a positive mind from God rather than asking for money & materialistic happiness. They had a positive smile on their face every time I met them. Uncleji served as a Civil Engineer at BARC & Auntyji was a Sanskrit & Hindi Teacher. Both these individuals saw the best & the worst of days. They kept themselves on the ground during their best days & patient during their worst days. I  always had youth realted topic discussions with them & every time a new learning was learnt by me. I lost Auntyji in the year 2018 & Uncleji in 2019. I saw a completely different Uncleji after he lost the support of Auntyji. That was the true love for  a life partner which is nowadays lacking in young couples.

The above Picture was clicked by me randomly when we were on a trip to Hazur Sahib, Nanded. This picture appeared to be the best picture ever. Old Couples yet with Young hearts is the perfect definition of two of them!

The above two pictures were at the Wedding Anniversary celebration of Uncleji & Auntyji where we had  Shri Satyanarayan Pooja at their residence & had gone for a dinner thereafter.

These two pictures refreshes old memories. A good cheers of Cocktail juice was a great memory!

2 ) Mrs. Satinder Sandhu :

A lady of inspiration. I met her for the first time in the Gurudwara. She taught me how to read the Bani correctly, Jaap of Guru Nanak Dev Ji, to increase faith on Shri Guru Maharaj Ji. She's gone through lot of hardships in her life yet she has overcomed all with her True Bhakti. She has handled most of her problems with courage & self- determination. She has a sweet voice & a considerate heart. She loves all who come in her contact.  I love her to the Moon & back ! A lovely picture of hers is below:

Two of the best pictures clicked ever !

3 ) Mr G.S Dutt & Mrs. Shobha Dutt :

A lovely Couple I ever met. One small incident which makes me laugh always I would like to narrate. When I was in my 6th Class I once happen to be to Dutt Uncle's house & I had just completed with my Terminal Exams. Uncle asked me So, how were your papers & what's your expected score? I very gently replied that once my papers are done I always leave it to God , Uncle jokingly replied I used to leave it on God even before my exams. Truely every time I went for my Exams I would always remember that incident. Shobha Aunty, I admire her for ther thick long hair, her accent of English. I really miss you'll !

Above is latest Picture , Below is an Old memory !

4) Mr. P.C. Shekhar & Mrs. Rajlaxmi :

Two lovely Individuals ! I admire aunty for her Best cooking, Cute jokes, Cool nature. Uncle gives me unique ideas on various topics, a great guidance for Career questions. I remember the first interaction with Uncle & Aunty where I suggested both of them to watch the movie 'ALL THE BEST' & then time flied off & the relation got stronger . Aunty needs to come up with her own Cooking classes according to me as she really cooks well. Lets have a look at their picture below :

Missing the get togethers at your place ! Ganpati festival too is fast approaching & I wish things were fine when you would bring South Indian garlands for Ganpati Baapa.

  1. To comment on this is really tough as you have said such wonderful things about us . I liked what you have written about each and everyone. As we grow older each little thing means a lot to us.
These are taught to us at a young age ,which we in turn pass on to the younger generation. Whatever you are today and will be in the future is because of this , specially your parents . They are the first and last teachers of our life . God bless you ,Karishma and your wonderful parents.

  8. Dear sushmita, very beautifully written and expressed. U have mentioned about our mom ( Satinder Kaur Sandhu), we 3 sisters are so blessed to have her as our mom. There is so much we have learnt from her and still learning. She is such a pure soul. Yes indeed she touches a person's heart when she meets them. We love her too to the moon and back. And she mentions so much about you too to us. Thanks for being around her, when we are not there.
